The first generation of Sandero, launched worldwide in Brazil seven years ago, was created taking into account the taste and needs of the consumer here. Therefore, the development of the car was carried out by designers and engineers based in the country. The sales that already total about 500 thousand units prove the success of the model in the market. Sandero participates in the main segment of the Brazilian market, that of compact hatches, which corresponds to 50% of sales of passenger cars. Being such a large segment in Brazil, its audience range is quite diverse. Reference in robustness, in internal space and with the largest trunk of the category, the Sandero appeals to both families and young singles who are looking for a beautiful, practical and well-equipped car. Thanks to the Media NAV, Sandero also attracts the attention of the most connected who do not give up technology.

“The new Sandero is an evolution in terms of design and accessible innovation of a product that has always been recognized by the greater internal space of the segment and its robustness,” says Olivier Murguet, president of Renault Brazil. Making new technologies accessible is also a Renault concern. The new Sandero brings to the segment air-conditioned automatic and generation 1.2 of Media NAV (multimedia center that offers GPS, sound system, Bluetooth and the Eco-Coaching and Eco-Scoring functionalities) and autopilot (controller and speed limiter) , among other technologies, that make the day-to-day life of drivers and passengers more pleasant. The new Sandero is built on a new platform, that is, new structure, new electrical system, new brake system, steering and new suspensions, as well as new design and total redesign of the interior and ram 2500 car covers. At the same time, the car keeps unchanged the characteristics that have made it one of the most successful models in the Brazilian market: the unparalleled internal space and robustness, in addition to low maintenance cost and total guarantee of three years.

“Sandero is a product developed for the Brazilian market and represents 40% of Renault’s sales. With Novo Sandero we will continue this important success story “, says Gustavo Luis Schmidt, commercial vice president of Renault doBrasil. A more dynamic and sophisticated look characterizes Novo Sandero. The car’s lines follow the brand’s new global design identity, created by Laurens van den Acker, Senior Vice President of Design for the Renault Group. The evolution of the design also manifests itself inside the car, reinforced by the application of high quality materials and components that further increase the occupants’ comfort. The ample interior space – one of Sandero’s most celebrated qualities – remains the strong point of the car. Another new feature is the new 1.0 16V Hi-Power engine, which debuted at Clio and is also offered at the New Logan. With four valves per cylinder and maximum power of 80 hp (fueled with ethanol), it offers more economy. Proof of this is that Novo Sanderoreceived a grade A in the Brazilian Vehicle Labeling Program, which classifies automobiles produced in the country according to the consumer economy.

The brand’s new visual identity was established based on the notion of the life cycle, presented through five concept cars: DeZir, Captur, Frendzy, R-Space and Twin’Z. Each represents a stage of this complex cycle: the phase of passion, the discovery of the world, the formation of the family, the relationship with work, the moments of leisure and the experience that leads to wisdom. Starting from these concept cars, the new visual identity defined by the Renault designers was taken to the standard cars. Like Novo Logan, the design of Novo Sandero was developed with the participation of Renault Design América Latina (RDAL), located in São Paulo, the first studio of design and style of the brand in the American continent. One of the highlights of the new identity is Renault’s big logo in the central part of the front grille, with the chrome bezels that extend to the headlights. In the Dynamique version, the lower grille features beehive-like sport design and chrome trim on the fog lights, reinforcing the model’s sophisticated design. Laterally, the silhouette is marked by the solid upper line that starts from the hood, passes through the windshield and follows to the rear of the car, without breaking the flow.

The high waist appearance creates a strong sense of robustness, accentuated by the lines and the impressive volume of the mudguards (front and rear) with well defined curves. The outer door handles are aligned to the door surfaces and the B column has a black stripping in the Expression and Dynamique versions, which create a unique surface perception in the glazed area. The Dynamite version reinforces its more sophisticated look with direction indicator lights incorporated into the mirrors. Likewise, in the rear, the ratio between the glazed area and the solid surfaces, along with the high waist line, signals to the large space available internally. The unique design of the tail lamps and the bulging volume of the bumper contribute to the impression of strength and robustness of the model.

The ample space and comfort on board remain some of the strongest points in Sandero’s design. A new internal design makes the car even more welcoming and pleasant for the driver and passengers. This new quality of life on board is enhanced by new materials, improved finishes and new colors and textures that have enhanced the feeling of well-being inside. Totally new, the panel has more modern design and is now made of material more pleasing to the touch. The three-spoke steering wheel, with anatomical grip, brings the chrome Renault logo in the center. In the Dynamique version, it comes with the autopilot commands (limiter and speed controller.

The dashboard has white illumination with three round dials: the analog gauge and speedometer, and a digital display with fuel level indicator and multifunctional on-board computer. It allows the driver to check the average and instantaneous fuel consumption, the autonomy, the volume of fuel consumed, the average speed and the total and partial mileage in the trip. The gearshift indicator helps the driver to drive economically and efficiently. The correct steering position is easily found thanks to the new continuous seat adjustment and the left footrest. These are also completely new, and in the Dynamique version, they have the unprecedented CCT (Cover Carving Technology) technology, which the New Logan has debuted worldwide. In addition to a more sporty design, they have thick foam covers, ranging from 5 to 20 millimeters.

The interior of the New Sandero can offer 8 to 11 object carriers, depending on the version. The sides of the front and rear doors have map holders and bottle holders – in the front it is possible to carry containers of up to 1.5 liter. The large glove compartment has a capacity of 5.7 liters. Soda cans and cups have specific spaces in the center console, in front of the shift lever, and behind the parking brake. A novelty that increases practicality is the internal luggage compartment opening command, which is the largest in the category, with a 320-liter capacity with the rear seat in the normal position. As standard, the new Sandero allows the rear seat to be folded and the trunk capacity rises to 1,196 liters.

Renault continuously invests in new technologies so that they are available to its customers in all segments. The automatic air-conditioning, for example, is unprecedented in the segment. To provide maximum comfort, the air-conditioning adjustment is done by a computer, using sensors that regulate the flow temperature through the cab air conditioning circuit. New Sandero also has Media NAV 1.2. With a built-in seven-inch touchscreen panel, Media Nav 1.2 features Eco-Coaching and Eco-Scoring functions, plus GPS, Bluetooth, radio and external temperature display and pop-up with automatic air-conditioning . The Eco-Scoring function evaluates the driver’s behavior at the end of a course, taking into account the right time for gear shifting, regularity of speed, fuel consumption and mileage. Along with Eco-Scoring is Eco-Coaching, which guides the driver to drive more economically.

With the Bluetooth connection, you can make phone calls to registered contacts on your phone, access call history and leave the numbers registered in the system, all with display display. The voice transmission is made by the vehicle’s speakers, which provides security to the driver who needs to use the cell phone while driving. Another tool offered by Media NAV 1.2 is GPS. The navigation system has easy programming and has a wide range of points of interest. You can program and save the route while the map is displayed on the screen. The system shows the time scheduled for arrival at the destination, the distance to be traveled, the average speed and other information.

The Media NAV 1.2 has auxiliary inputs (plug and USB / iPod connection) and can be operated by the satellite control located on the steering column so that the driver does not need to take his hand off the steering wheel to change music, answer calls or change stations radio. In the center of the panel, the sound equipment and controls of the air conditioning system are grouped together. Media Nav is a successful device in the Renault range. Last year, 55% of the Sandero sold out of the factory with the multimedia system. In New Logan, which debuted system 1.2, this percentage rose to 75% of sales. Other equipment offered for the New Sandero includes the autopilot (limiter and speed controller). The limiter prevents the driver from inadvertently exceeding the maximum speed allowed on the track. Even if the accelerator remains pressed, the car does not exceed the limit set by the driver. In case of an emergency, however, simply depress the throttle to the bottom to deactivate the limiter and, for example, complete an overtaking faster. The on-board computer has six functions: Liters consumed, Average consumption, Instant consumption, Autonomy, Distance traveled and Average speed.

New Sandero shares a completely new platform with the New Logan. The new generation has structure, body, suspensions, steering and brakes different from the previous one. About 80% of the car’s components are new. One of the highlights of the new model is the electric system, optimized to receive the increasing volume of comfort and assistance equipment offered in the car. This system ensures complete compatibility with these new equipment thanks to the multiplexing system that Sandero did not have. The new suspension has been developed to provide maximum comfort, stability and durability, taking into account the characteristics of our streets and roads. The front gauge has increased by 33 mm and the rear gauge has increased by 25 mm. The steering was more accurate and safe with the new variable assistance.

The front suspension of the Novo Sandero has a MacPherson-type structure, with triangular arms and integrated springs with coil springs – in the Dynamique version, it is complemented by a stabilizer bar. Behind, the car uses a semi-independent system, with torsion bar cross, helical springs and vertical dampers, with stabilizer bar. Several new features have been applied to enhance acoustic comfort aboard the Novo Sandero. Engine noise insulation, for example, has been enhanced by the use of blankets and insulation linings at strategic points in the body, as well as the interior of the car. The low vibration transmitted by the engine and the suspension to the body contributes also to the comfort of the occupants. Wind noise was reduced by the adoption of new gaskets in the front doors and also by the more rigorous assembly of the components of the body. Even the new front wiper blades are more aerodynamic and get closer to the glass, lessening their interference in mid- and high-speed air passage. The concern with the comfort of the model is evidenced by the installation of the arms of the front suspension in a subchassi that is fixed in the monoblock by means of cushions. The bushes that fasten the suspension arms to the bodywork guarantee, in addition to sound insulation, rigidity and supports necessary to guarantee good handling and safety of the car in the corners.

The new Sandero has a standard airbag for driver and front passenger in all versions. The ninth generation ABS system with electronic brake force distributor (EBD) is also standard. The CAR system, which automatically locks the vehicle’s doors when it reaches 6 km / h, also contributes to safety. The design of the front seats is made in a way that makes it difficult for the occupant to slip under the seat belt in frontal collisions (anti-shatter effect). With the passengers well placed on the seat, all safety devices can operate correctly. The three-point retractable seat belts have height adjustment (front) and integrated effort limiters. This device, present in all Renault models, automatically adjusts the tension of the belt reducing any injuries caused by excessive pressure of the belt against the body in the event of a collision.

The front and rear structures of the Novo Sandero monobloc feature progressive deformation zones that cushion impacts. The cabin is rigidly constructed to protect the occupants, with the central column and the roof rail reinforced. It is the concept of survival cell, which resists giving space to passengers after the crash, minimizing injuries. All doors have safety locks that prevent opening from the inside, avoiding accidents with children. The retractable and folding steering column is positioned so as to reduce the risk of contact with the driver’s knees. In the event of a frontal strike, pendant brackets prevent the motor from intruding into the cab and the pedal moves downward, preventing the pedals from reaching the driver’s feet. The steering assistance has also been improved: the system operates less intensively when the steering wheel is moved little, to ensure control of the car at high speeds. Already in maneuvers, when the handling of the steering wheel is greater, the system offers greater assistance, requiring less effort in maneuvers and when parking. Another quality of the New Sandero is the small turning diameter of 10.6 meters, which also facilitates maneuvering in tight spaces and when parking.

The New Sandero is offered with two engine options: 1.0 16 V Hi-Power and 1.6 8V Hi-Power, both known for their good performance and fuel efficiency. Both engines are flexible, consuming as much gasoline as ethanol, or any mixture of both. The engines of the new Sandero are directly benefited by the know-how acquired by Renault on the Formula 1 racetracks, where the engines of the brand equip the cars of four teams and have won the last four world championships with Red Bull driver Sebastian Vettel Racing Renault. The specific development for Brazil is carried out at the Renault TecnologiaAméricas (RTA) engineering center, located next to the São José dos Pinhais plant in Paraná. The new 1.0 16 V Hi-Power, which debuted at Clio and is also offered in the New Logan, stands out for the economy: it received a grade A in the Brazilian Vehicle Labeling Program (PBEV), developed by Inmetro, with the partnership of Conpet – program of the Federal Government, linked to the Ministry of Mines and Energy, executed with technical and administrative support from Petrobras. With four valves per cylinder, it generates 80 hp using ethanol or 77 hp when fueled only with gasoline. The maximum torque varies from 10.2 kgfm (gasoline) to 10.5 kgfm (ethanol), reached at 4,250 rpm.

The 1.0 16V Hi-Power engine is offered for the Authentique and Expression versions. Consumption in the urban cycle is 8.1 km / l (ethanol) and 11.9 km / l (petrol) and, on the road, 9.2 km / l (petrol) and 13.4 km / . The other engine option is offered for the Expression and Dynamique versions. The 1.6 8V Hi-Power generates 106 hp when fueled with ethanol and 98 hp with gasoline. The maximum torque is 15.5 kgfm with ethanol and 14.5 kgfm with gasoline. An important factor is the availability of 85% of the torque starting at 1,500 rpm, guaranteeing the agility of the car, especially in urban traffic, in addition to faster speed pickups, important quality on the road. To enhance the economic performance of the engine, the Novo Sandero is equipped with a gearshift indicator, which suggests to the driver when to reduce or increase the gear in order to take advantage of the characteristics of the fuel-saving propellant.

New Sandero is offered in four versions: Authentique 1.0, Expression 1.0, Expression 1.6 and Dynamique 1.6. Below are the main serial items of each version:

New Sandero has a factory warranty of 3 years or 100,000 kilometers, whichever comes first. The model maintenance plan provides for periodic revisions to be made at intervals of 10,000 kilometers or for each year of use. By dividing the total cost of the maintenance program by the number of days of the three-year warranty, the result is a maintenance cost of around $ 1 per day (for non-air-conditioned versions) – one of the lowest category. In addition, the Renault dealership network offers owners the “Closed Price Review” program and the “Closed Parts Price Package”, which brings together the main items of wear and maintenance. These two services allow customers to know in advance how much they will spend for repairs, as suggested prices for both packages include parts and labor values. The owners of Novo Sandero are also supported by Renault Assistance, a 24-hour technical assistance and rescue service. If necessary, Renault Assistance sends a technician to make minor on-site repairs and, where appropriate, arranges for the removal of the car to the nearest dealer. The service is offered for free for 24 months after purchase.
